New Lada 4×4 promise to keep a familiar feel

AvtoVAZ continues to develop the project brand new “Niva”. Earlier it became known that the successor of the Lada 4×4 will be shared basis with the Renault Duster and will be more crossover than SUV. Concern among fans causes and possible change of style, but the plant promises to keep the new product features of the predecessor.
Head of design Steve Mattin, Lada said that the new generation of Lada 4×4 will be similar to the classic “Niva”, according to the Agency RNS.
“It is important to have some binding elements that share a car with a car of the previous generation. Today vivid is the image of Lada 4×4. There are some memorable specific elements. Of course, in the future, a 4×4 trying to make these bright elements known today, will be identifiable in the new model,” he said.
While Mattin noted that the new generation of Lada 4×4 will not be similar in design to the Renault Duster.

“Of course not. Lada Lada will remain. Very active on this model. This car is the icon for AVTOVAZ, so it will remain. And in the future will remain a very important car for the brand as it is today. Of course, the model one will have to change. Lada 4×4 currently, more than 40 years. Keep updating it is impossible,” explained Mattin.
Also said that Steve Mattin AVTOVAZ expects to go to the design of all Lada models in the new corporate style X-Face to 2026.
Earlier we wrote that the so-called “Niva-3” will be built on a common platform with Renault Duster (Global Access), and thus will become more “passenger” crossover (the current Lada 4×4 is also a monocoque). The basis for the new “Fields” will take the chassis from the recently presented “Duster” of the second generation with a transverse engine. Moreover, the chassis thoroughly reworked to significantly increase off-road potential “Lada” compared to the “Frenchman”.
Most interesting is that the “Niva-3” can receive two versions – easier for city driving, with multi-plate clutch connecting the rear wheels, and serious off-road. The last in this case will differ not only the improved geometric cross, but the all wheel drive system and “ponezhukay” which “AVTOVAZ” will supposedly develop independently on the basis of “dexterously” MKP TL8.
Moreover, if some technical solutions of the Tolyatti engineers proves successful, then they may appear in the future and Renault Duster.
According to preliminary data, Russian engines have new “Fields” will not, at least at the first stage of the life cycle. As the base of the unit is considered a friend by Xray Nissan motor HR16 1.6 liters, which will be combined with a CVT.
The timing of the appearance of new items not yet known, but presumably it could be 2021.
