Most compact SUV model in the Russian line of Volkswagen Tiguan is still popular, but in a few years we will offer more compact and cheaper model. Production should start in 2020.
German company Volkswagen is going to produce a relatively compact and affordable SUV, designed for China, North and South America and the CIS countries, including Russia. As reported in an interview with Automotive News, brand head Herbert Diess, in Western Europe this model will not be sold, since the role of the compact SUV’s there already takes the new T-Roc.

The draft of the new crossover in the company informally referred to as “Volks-SUV” that is a kind of “popular Volkswagen”. And it promises to be very massive: the Germans are going to sell 400,000 of these vehicles worldwide annually. What is the name of this new product, not yet reported – perhaps the car was already patented the name Tharu. We only know that Volkswagen has already approved the design of the crossover, and it would actually be common to all designated markets.
The technical details too not revealed yet except that will be based on MQB platform. Overall the new Volkswagen crossover will be plus or minus similar to Karoq Skoda and Volkswagen T-Roc.
Interestingly, the production of new products will be launched in the summer of 2018 in China, the factory of the Corporation is SAIC-Volkswagen and crossovers for Russian market are traditionally localized in Kaluga.
